Taank Bake off is Triumphant!
We were astounded by the entries at the Taank bake-off this year! It was such a lovely way to celebrate 100 years of practice in the community.
The event took place on Parkers Piece in a beautiful marquee decorated with balloons and bunting. The sun was shining and our amazing stilt-walker was spreading the word of our fabulous cake extravaganza.
David Baddiel warmed up the crowd with stand up entertainment and the judging began. Steadily consuming confection after confection Anjana and David boldly soldiered through the lovingly made cakes. There was so much variety of decoration ranging from wobbly-eye cakes and comic book characters! There was even a cake with a Dame Edna Everage theme.
The deserved winner was Fiona McDuff, with her Despicable Me optician minion. Complete with logo’d lab coat and test chart, it truly was an impressive entry. We were pleased to award her with the grand prize of an Ipad mini.
The runner up was Reuben Daly with his secret surprise cake, a spectrum of colour hidden amongst the whisky butter cream. Reuben received £150 of Taank Optometrists gift vouchers.
A special mention goes to Paul Mearman who was the winner of the elusive wooden spoon prize, with an interesting take on a spectacle case!
We were so entertained by the whole event and the ambiance was incredible. We would like to thank all of our entrants and attendees for making this a day to go down in Taank history!
