Taank Gets A Visit From An Admirable Puppy
On World Sight Day this year we had an exciting visit from a guide dog puppy in training. Indy is being trained to be able to guide those who are registered blind or partially sighted in day to day life.
Gillian the trainer helped educate local children about guide dogs and their role in the community. The response was warming and Gillian was very informative in her presentation. Indy is currently learning to differentiate between right and left and to react accordingly when approaching steps.
Guide dogs are working dogs for about 5 to 6 years of their lives and currently there are 4,700 guide dog owners in the UK.
Guide dogs for the blind rely entirely on public support and receive no government funding. For more information, please click on the link below to take you to the official website.
